A delegation of social services studies students at New York University in Abu Dhabi, and students of art therapy studies at George Washington University in Washington, DC, paid a scientific visit to the headquarters of the National Archives, during which they learned about aspects of the ancient history of the Emirates and the nation's memory that the National Archives preserves for generations.
The students of New York University in Abu Dhabi accompanied their guest delegation coming from George Washington University to the National Archives based on the strong and constructive relations between the National Archives and academic institutions inside and outside the Emirates, and the knowledge it provides to students related to its noble missions and national goals, and on the scientific benefit they have achieved. From the National Archives, informing them of the customs and traditions of the UAE society, aspects and events of the history of the UAE and building its auspicious union.
During the visit, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Muhammad Al-Raisi, Director General of the National Archives, received the students of the two universities, and talked to them about the efforts of the National Archives and its preparations for the United Arab Emirates to host the Congress of the International Council on Archives in 2020. Thus, the UAE will be the first Arab country to host this important historical event, and experts and specialists will meet at the conference. And officials in the field of archiving and documentation from different countries of the world.

The visit program also included a tour of the Emirates Library, where the students of the two universities were briefed on its most prominent contents, including references, paper and electronic sources, books, periodicals, and specialized university theses, and methods of benefiting from its holdings. They also watched a three-dimensional documentary film about the UAE’s past in the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Hall for Virtual Reality.
