Al-Dhahiri presents a historical perspective of the Trucial Coast Region in the 20th century: the concept of the Arabian Gulf Coast; the various names given to it and the significance of each name; a historical view of life and socio-economic conditions in the region in 1930s and 1940s; culture and education; health and local policy; councils (Majalis) and relations with the British administration. Among other topics covered are the demographic composition of the Trucial Coast in 1901; the camel convoy\u2019s route from Abu Dhabi to the Qatar Peninsula; life of Coastal citizens in India and their relationship with other communities there and resulting mutual influence.
