{"id":1702,"date":"2023-05-30T11:52:48","date_gmt":"2023-05-30T08:52:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nla.ae\/?page_id=1702"},"modified":"2023-11-16T09:26:38","modified_gmt":"2023-11-16T06:26:38","slug":"document-preservation-policy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.nla.ae\/en\/our-archive\/government-archive\/policies\/document-preservation-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Document Preservation Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"border border-radius-20 p-3\">\n<h2>NA Document Preservation Policy<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Definition:<\/strong>\u00a0To maintain the physical and intellectual value of original documents for long term preservation, documents requires appropriate security, climate and environmental conditions based on its form.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"expand-content-articles-indicator\">\n<li>Provide the appropriate conditions for archive storage areas in order to protect all forms of documents against damage.<\/li>\n<li>Set rules and principles for the storage of archive materials<\/li>\n<li>Apply international security and safety standards, as well as, best practices by equipping the storage locations of archives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Text of the Policy:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The National Library and Archives document preservation policy involves storage and protection procedures for any type and form of document in the following manner:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"expand-content-articles-indicator\">\n<li>Specialization of document storage areas based on international standards for file storage, recovery and confidentiality.<\/li>\n<li>Specialization of appropriate long-term storage spaces for all types of documents.<\/li>\n<li>Setting a scheduled plan of periodic control and maintenance of the environmental conditions of the building and documents storage spaces.<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining the cleanliness and maintenance of fragile archival material and documents.<\/li>\n<li>Setting appropriate safety, security and environment related instructions and following up their application under optimum storage and document protection conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Securing storages spaces by implementing an access and exit control system to avoid document leakage and eventually loss.<\/li>\n<li>Setting an emergency plan to face disasters as reviewed by the competent authorities (civil defense).<\/li>\n<li>Developing procedures and plans for users to avoid any risk or damage to documents.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring that all standard specification and security conditions are in place when showing archive documents during events and exhibitions.<\/li>\n<li>Application of health and safety legislation and regulations adopted in Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NA Document Preservation Policy Definition:\u00a0To maintain the physical and intellectual value of original documents for long term preservation, documents requires appropriate security, climate and environmental conditions based on its form.
